We may as well be up front about Pandigital: we weren’t impressed by the original Novel e-reader. But maybe they’ve learned from their mistakes and have produced something a little more worthwhile. At any rate, AT&T seems to think it’s worth your time, since they’re adding the new Multimedia Novel to their selection.
The device has a 9″ screen (rather an uncommon size these days) at 800×480, an ARM11 processor, and has 2GB of internal storage. After that you’ll want to rely on an SD card. It runs Android, with a special skin on top of course, and will have access to the Nook bookstore (i.e. Barnes & Noble) but will not have Marketplace access. Why you’d pick this one over a Nook Color if you’re looking for an LCD-type e-reader is beyond me, but hey, more choice is always better.
The Multimedia Novel will run you $279.99 from AT&T; you can get it with or without a 3G connection.

Why buy this thing at a higher price than the already-capable Nook Color to access it’s own B&N bookstore? Read my review on the Nook Color at my blog. I think it is a breakthrough device that fits perfectly between an iPad and a plain ereader.
