Yap.tv, covered previously by our own Jason Kinkaid adds a social layer to your TV watching by grabbing the current TV listings and adding comments, social feeds, and news. It allows you to watch programming with a “third screen,” most notably the iPad.
What ever happened to watching TV with someone in the same room and discussing, commenting, sharing, laughing with them. We are already so disconnected as it is! Now while we aren’t paying attention to each other as we watch TV we can pay even less attention to each other and sit while we talk to people we aren’t even with. It’s like two people going to dinner together while texting others the whole time. If you want to spend the time with the other person who you are chatting with then do that instead.

What I’d like to see is all cable companies and satellite providers going 100% a la cart. So many channels I don’t watch and so many I’m missing because they’re part of a higher priced package. A dozen cannels at $4.95 a month would certainly better than dozens of channels that are seen only when you’re flipping past them in search of something watchable.
I’m with you John, that is what I’ve been saying for years. When I inquired about it the cable/sat companies told me that they are at the mercies of the big channels to bundle. ESPN,CNN,ABC etc. are all owned and operated by Disney, they are the ones pulling the strings and we as the consumer need to boycott these large corporations in order to make them listen to what we really feel is fair.
I believe Netflix is the best deal ever. With Netflix, you can pick and choose your movies online instead of having to watch movies made for Obama types.
Netflix is a nice add on but the delay in new releases to stream and no new daily shows from networks its just an additive.

I am tired of the condom and the sexual enhancement commercials. And even the titles of the cable porn are disgusting, especially if you are channel surfing with a child sitting next to you. One night there was an infomercial on about sex toys. And when did degredation, humiliation and the perverse or deviant become entertainment? Did Jerry Springer start it all? American Idol? Just take a peek at the reality shows. ie; “It only hurts when I laugh” show which depicts someone getting hit in the head with a baseball, followed by laughter.How is that funny? How was it ever funny to listen to Simon ridicule the no talents on American Idol? How is watching a man eat worms entertaining.? How about the poor schmuck who couldnt make his car payment. REPO MAN. Entertaining to watch 3 vulgar obese tatooed losers tow his vehicle away. Oh how much I want to watch HOARDERS! I want to throw up . I don’t know why these things continue to shock me. Too bad all of the above couldn’t just be ordered in a discreet manner so that everyone is not subjected to such material that I believe only a fraction of people actually tune in to.

The complaint I have about TV is the excessive amount of commercials. Seems there is equal amount of commercial time as program time. It’s disgusting!
