Ooooo, new hard drives from Samsung. Here’s three that are debuting this week at CES, all of them of the portable variety, and all of them also of the USB 3.0 variety. That means they’re fast.
There’s portable and there’s portable: the smallest of the drives top out at 1TB, and the biggest, which are really more of a plain ol’ external hard drive variety (though I suppose they’re still portable) top out at 2TB.
They all come in three colors, should that type of thing matter to you.
Of course, without a USB 3.0 motherboard there’s not going to be too much of an improvement over USB 2.0 drives, but Samsung says that, at their fastest, the drives are able to transfer a 25-gig file in four minutes.
No prices yet, but they’ll be available in the springtime, specially April.

These are looking really good and with Samsungs reliability they should be worth the purchase. Also it makes sense to purchase the USB 3.0 capability even if you do not have the connection yet.
