The camera Polaroid teased last month, at the time simply (and ominously) called “Grey,” has been revealed by no less than Lady Gaga herself (about 40 minutes late), who claims to have been intimately involved with the design process. It’s pretty much what it looks like: a digital Polaroid camera that doubles as a wireless color printer. It’s got a flip-up LCD where you frame your shot; the controls are all under there unless you’re just firing one off.
There were none for us to try out, and even if there were, we would have had to tear through the bodies of hundreds before we got a chance, so I thought I’d just mosey back here and post these shots. It really is quite a beautiful little object — whether it performs as well as it looks is another thing, though.
It holds 10 shots per cartridge, which is about what I’d expect. Waiting on additional specs, but enjoy the pictures.

How about….keep the FILM polaroids. This pisses me off. DPI better be impressive when I see shots from this sure-to-be excessively expensive camera. Try giving less Polaroid 600 film away to shit corps like Starbucks that use it for retarded shit and donate it to schools.
They can’t just keep polariod film because polariod will eventually become obsolete, even in the throwbacks to the film industry. Making a polariod that shoots to print like the classic idea of a polariod AND saves the images in a digital format could be what makes the company relevent again. Polariod is just trying to survive.

Yes, the old Polaroid as it existed when Edmund Land was alive is indeed dead. It became a licensed name by some third party group who wanted to brand their products with it label. The design culture and consultants that once honored that name are out of the picture replaced by the trendy world of product promotions for the youth market demographic. Yes digital printing and cameras did make instant film obsolete in our speed obsessed world. The product design philosphy and culture of the OLD Polaroid is DEAD. The user friendly classic design of the SX70, Spectra are gone. Design efforts of the HDA and Smart Design have past into history. The chemical engineers who developed the secrets formulas to the “develop-before-your-eyes-film” are retired and sworn to silence. For the new Polaroid to survive this re-invention of the brand, it has a lot to prove. The new products may not fit into a market that is highly saturated with point and shot products.
Good design should not be desposible design. Don’t change your digital camera because it doesn’t match the color scheme for your wardrobe. Are people willing to pay $1.00 per print today ? I wish them well.

This is a waste of money. Because these pictures most likely will not be archival (chemically processed) they won’t last any longer than five years, if your lucky. Stick to getting your pictures printed at a real lab. All dry labs, a.k.a. walmart, cosco, walgreens, all those places print through dry labs, which is a fancy name for inkjet printer. Find a real lab that uses real chemicals and has a REAL lab tech and you will have amazing prints that are guaranteed to last 150 years at the LEAST!

Olympus did something like that 10 years ago, a digital camera that you loaded with Polaroid film so you could instantly print out a picture. And you could crop, zoom, etc the image before you printed it. And of course, you still had the digital image to save or download.
