Razer is showing off a new Mobile Gaming PC, based on the Intel Atom chipset. Called the “Switchblade”, it’s only a concept right now. I really hope they build this thing because it looks really interesting.
Since it’s a concept, there’s no real spec or MSRP or anything like that, but we do have a press release we can share, and we’re working on tracking down some more pictures. Razer has a gallery up here, but like I said, nothing concrete about it quite yet.
The new Intel® Atom™ powered concept model, codenamed “Razer Switchblade”, brings an evocative level of design to gaming by replacing the traditional mouse and keyboard interface with an ultra-sensitive multi-touch screen, dynamic tactile keyboard, and an intelligent user interface that adjusts the configuration and key layout on-the-fly based on game content and user requirements.
The Razer Switchblade concept was created from the ground up by Razer designers and engineers, in collaboration with Intel; focusing on enhancing the entire user experience of playing the extensive PC game library on a handheld device.
“The main problem with mobile PC gaming so far is that no one has been able to port the full mouse and keyboard experience onto a small size portable solution,” said Min-Liang Tan, CEO and Creative Director, Razer. “By combining adaptive on-the-fly controls and display, we managed to maintain the full tactile keyboard in a miniature computer while saving valuable screen estate.”
“PC Gaming continues to attract innovation with rich 3-D graphics, high definition video, and life-like animation,” said Brad Graff, director of gaming platforms for Intel’s Ultra Mobility Group. “The Intel® Atom™ processor, combined with Razer’s expertise in bringing gaming solutions to market, will help make it possible for consumers to have a powerful gaming experience in mobile devices.”
“With our established focus on human interface devices, moving the mouse and keyboard experience to the next level was a natural step.” continues Min-Liang Tan. “Razer isn’t just about bringing innovation to the PC, but creating products that will change the future of gaming. The Razer Switchblade is one such product.”

Looking sharp ! This concept reminds me of the dual screen laptop like.
Interesting idea, I take it you can switch to a normal keyboard? If not chatting in games such as MMO’s could be difficult.
Is it gaming only, or just a cool netbook concept that excels at gaming?
Looks cool. Would buy.
I need one of those giveaway WP7 phones too!
I’ll take one. Though it needs a joystick.
where are archos announcements?
Finally a PC that I can use…
With nothing solid about it out yet, I’d not get too excited without a list of games or something for this thing first being put up.
tablet + touch + laptop … Emm .. good for gamers actually…
I’d totally buy this if it were the same technology but in a keyboard, like a much cheaper version of the optimus maximus…
This looks pretty! From the future?
Intel has one on their booth, went through some photos a few minutes back, looks nice!
i’ll happily test it out for them, other than that i probably will never touch
As I said on Razer’s Facebook post,
“Razer, this is honestly embarassing. How dramatic and egotistical your marketing is reflects poorly on your company. Additionally, you said so much about bringing the keyboard/mouse feel to a laptop… and still, we have no mouse. A touch screen for (real) gaming? You’ve got to be kidding me. That’s definitely not what a mouse feels like. The adaptive keyboard is a pretty cool idea. Naturally, the keyboard won’t be able to adapt to every game. And relying on Razer to add support for all but the most popular games? Yeah, that’d be fun. But back to the “Switchblade,” it really doesn’t offer much to gamers right now. They still need a mouse to play real games (wait, does Razer sell those?) and that cancels out the portability aspect a lot.”
Not bringing anything but a keyboard to the table with this one, Razer.
Good concept, But in real I dont think so, any body can give full mouse and keyboard experience on portables, Even its there its not a full experience like on PCs or Xbox. Will see Razor brings this concept to real.
