The First WTF of CES: The Zood Tablet
Hey, friend, would you like a new tablet of the iStation line? How about the Zood 3D!
Here’s what Twice has to say about it, which makes it sound pretty cool, but what a freaking name:
iStation: The Korean company plans early 2011 delivery of the Zood 3D tablet, which uses polarized glass to display 3D images without glasses and provides 2D to 3D conversion. It features Android 2.1 OS, 7-inch 800 by 480 capacitive touchscreen, 1080p with HDMI output, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g, web browser, A/V playback, USN 2.0 Host, HDMI 1.3 output, composite-video output, Bluetooth 2.1 EDR, SDHC card slot, e-book reader, document viewer, dictionary and gravity sensor for use in playing games. It comes in 16GB and 32GB versions. Pricing was unavailable.
No Android 3.0? It sounds interesting though.

Apart from that looks decent. What screen tech though – LCD? And what’s so 3D about it? Uses glasses?
I can already imagine the sales people going – “You should try it, the 3D is actually very Zood”

I don’t understand the concept. Polarized glass used for 3d without glasses?
Polorized glasses work for 3d because the projector is sending both vertical and horizontal wavelengths of light, and one eye has glass that blocks vertical, the other horizontal, and thus each eye views a different picture.
If you polarize the viewing screen, all you’ve done is block one wavelength of light…you haven’t done anything to promote a 3d image.
