We Interview Alan Mulally, CEO Of Ford

We were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to talk with Ford CEO Alan Mulally, about the current lineup of cars and the technology that goes into them. Check out the video after the jump.

Mr. Mulally has the unique honor of being CEO of Ford during the recession, and Ford was the only company that didn’t need a government loan (like GM had). Perhaps this is due to Alan’s background as an engineer in Boeing in the 60′s. He went on to become the CEO of Boeing, and is in fact considered to be one of the major reasons that Boeing was able to compete with Airbus. Mr. Mulally had quite a bit to say about the MyFord technology, the current car line up, and some hints about the future of Ford.

Razer is showing off a new Mobile Gaming PC, based on the Intel Atom chipset. Called the “Switchblade”, it’s only a concept right now. I really hope they build this thing because it looks really interesting.

T-Mobile Rolls Out Faster 4G Coverage, Will Sell 4G Dell Streak 7

T-Mobile just announced an double-fold improvement to their current 4G network and they are now selling the Dell Streak 7, the first 4G tablet. They’ve already announced the G-Slate and we’ve reviewed the Streak 5, reporting that it’s a strong, if tiny, tablet device.

The 4G coverage improves network speed to up to 42 Mbps (your results may vary.) The Streak 7 will be available in the “coming weeks.”

We saw the new Surface twice yesterday, but getting shots of it turned out to be a bit difficult, and if you wanted to see video, you had to skip through the live stream of Ballmer talking about Zunes and Kinect sales (fun as that was). But they’ve gotten official with a video and a bunch of official photos, so feast your eyes on the new Surface.

Video inside showing off the new hardware.

We first saw the Onza improved 360 controller at last year’s CES, and at the time, I thought it would be released during 2010 — but it’s only now hitting… because of delays? Or because they decided to capitalize on the CES hype? I’m guessing the latter. At any rate, it’ll be available in a little over a week.

The vaunted successor to the Tesla Roadster, the Model S, is being shown off in near-production form here at CES. But it’s being shown off by NVIDIA, of all people, who provide the tech behind the enormous touchscreen interface making up a third of the dashboard. They refused to crack this one open so I could get up close and personal with the UI, but I thought I’d take a few glamour shots while I was there. Enjoy the gallery.

Today is the day. Today is the day where we can put the nonsense of yesterday’s press events behind us and actually get on the floor of CES 2011 with our Ustream equipment. Hallelujah.

The show technically opens at 10:00am, but we’re kicking off the day with a live interview with Ford’s superstar CEO, Alan Mulally at 9:00 in Ford’s North Hall booth. We have twenty minutes with the man, so please, drop any questions you may have in the comments below concerning Ford’s roll in vehicle technology, the auto maker’s stance on EVs, or anything else, really. We’re certainly going to ask Detroit’s top car guy how he feels about the new US Top Gear series.

After the Mulally interview, we’re going to hit the show floor hard and fast with our Ustream equipment. There’s a lot to see here and we only have a couple short days to bring it all. So yeah, click over to CES.CrunchGear.com for the latest news and the live Ustream feed, which we’ll fire up at 9:00am PST today.
